Here is an explanation of various settings

Hub Details

1. Hub Name - Name your startup hub as you want it to be displayed on the web. Eg: IoT Hub

2. Maximum Member Limit - This defines the maximum number of users who can join the hub. (in future, this will depend on subscribed plan)

3. Sub-domain - Reserve a name and set the URL for users to access the hub directly. Eg: iot.startuphubs.com

This is needed even to set-up a custom domain for the hub.

4. Domain - Specify the custom domain to be used for the hub. Eg: iothub.com

5. Slug - This is used in the URL of the hub info page. Eg: startuphubs.com/about-iot-hub

6. Check if this hub is using a custom domain name - Select if a custom domain (eg: iothub.com) is to be used instead of a co-branded domain (iot.startuphubs.com) for all purposes.

7. Website URL - An alternative link configured here is shown on the hub info page. Mostly used, if the custom domain and main website are different (eg: hub.example.com being the hub and example.com being the main site)

8. Youtube Link - A link to youtube video for embedding on the hub info page.

9. Helpdesk URL - To be used if the hub uses a third-party helpdesk solution.

10. Description - A one or two liner describing startup hub.

Hub Settings

11. Privacy Options - The hub can be made Public, Request-only or Private. Private hubs in addition to acting like Request-only hubs are also hidden from the index on startuphubs.com. Only users who know the URL to such hubs can access the hub or send join requests.

12. Focus Areas - Enter few highly relevant keywords or tags to describe the hub. Helps with searching and indexing.

13. Email Whitelist - Automatically allows membership requests from domains specified here. Useful if the hub is configured as Request-only hub.

14. Hub Type - Used for categorization

15. Add me as an expert - If the hub admin also wants to be listed as an expert/service provider in the hub.

16. Set Favicon - Upload an image in .ico format to be used as favicon.

17. Set an image - Upload images to be used as header/banner. This will replace the startuphubs.com logo on the custom hub.

18. Payment - While startuphubs.com itself is free for everyone to join and also for those looking to create their custom hub with less than 50 members, it will cost an yet-to-be determined price for large hubs. Will update this page when more info is available or contact us to discuss.

19. Providers - Set the API keys and tokens here to integrate your hub with third-party providers listed on the page. Ex: To allow facebook login, register for a key and token on facebook and enter it here.

20. Confirm - Verify all details and submit.
